We wanted to share about a number of upcoming events at the school in the weeks ahead.
The absolutely final day to order tickets for the Breakfast and a Movie event being held on Sunday, December 17th, is this evening (Thursday, November 30th) at 10:00 p.m. on School Cash Online. (No late tickets will be available.) Order before it’s too late … don’t miss out on this School Council family fun event. We already have over 160 community members participating!
Our school is now collecting donations of in-date, unopened, non-perishable (mainly food) items in support of the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank. We are collecting items through December 18th. There are donation boxes in the foyer and you or your child can drop off items directly. If you have numerous items or heavier items to donate that cannot be sent with your child, simply bring them to the front door of the school and press the intercom button, and we will help have the items brought in. We welcome and thank all members of the Rosedale Heights P.S. community who are able to participate in this campaign of giving.
We continue to collect recipes from our Rosedale Heights P.S. Community Cookbook and we want your recipe. We have started putting together to cookbook at its going to be fabulous! So please dig into your family recipe collections, put on your aprons and participate in our community endeavor by submitting your favourite recipe to us at https://bit.ly/RHPSCookbook. We would ask that you include a few sentences about why the recipe might be meaningful to your family, and perhaps even whose favourite dish it is. We would also ask that you submit any high resolution photos of the preparation of this dish, the finished product, or your family enjoying it to cookbook@rosedaleheightsps.com.
On Thursday, December 7th Rosedale Heights P.S. will be joined by the Tour for Humanity bus experience, who will be delivering a program, The Holocaust: Then and Now for grades 6, 7 and 8 students. Tour for Humanity is Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre’s award-winning mobile human rights education centre. The program will be offered in a customized bus that travels to schools and organizations across Canada, engaging students, teachers and other community members. For more information regarding the Tour for Humanity, visit: https://www.fswc.ca/tour-for-humanity.
Lastly, Friday, January 19th is a P.A. Day. There is a Red Cross Babysitting Course being offered at Rosedale Heights P.S. on that day for students in grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. The program is offered by Stayin’ Alive, providing caregiver and first aid skills for youth. Space is limited, so consider signing your child up today.
