Save the Date: End of Year Community Extravaganza!

Remember last year’s end of year Soirée? That was so 2024! Remember two years ago’s end of year Par-Tay? That was so 2023!  This year, we are cordially inviting all Rosedale Heights P.S. students and their families to our even better End of Year Community Extravaganza!  We look forward to seeing our entire Rosedale Heights P.S. community join us on the back tarmac for an evening of food, fun and festivities on Tuesday, June 24th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be an awesome dance party hosted by Superfly Entertainment, dancers, animals from Reptilia, games, delicious fruit, balloon animals, tarmac activities, crafts, field sports, henna artwork, a firetruck and the return of that amazing caricature artist to capture all the memories! (And the event is rain or shine … so it won’t rain!)

And best of all, the event is entirely free! That’s right, with your support from our March Madness fundraiser (thank you) you are all invited at no cost!

Additionally, if you’d like, you can skip making dinner, because we’ll have a food truck, a funnel cake truck and an ice cream trucks on hand, as well (cash and carry). And, by popular demand, we’ll have long anticipated Rosedale Heights P.S. Spirit Wear on sale, too (cash and carry). Prepare for the summer by picking up the newest RHPS fashions … for students and parents!

Be sure to mark the date down today, because we want to see all 438 students and their families at our end of year Extravaganza!

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

The first week of May marks Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is “Unmasking Mental Health.” The focus is on increasing mental health literacy, reducing stigma, and encouraging daily mental health practices. The York Region District School Board is supporting this important week by providing toolkits for both educators and families. These include virtual workshops, activities, and strategies organized into five themed days:

  • Mindful Monday (May 5)
  • Thoughtful Tuesday (May 6)
  • Wellness Wednesday (May 7)
  • Take Care Thursday (May 8)
  • Focus Friday (May 9)

The linked Parent/Caregiver Toolkit offers valuable resources such as conversation starters, recorded presentations on topics like anxiety and social media, and tips to support children’s mental health at home. A highlight of the week is a free virtual presentation by Dr. Gillian White titled “Turning Stress into Success,” happening on May 8 from 6:00–7:00 p.m. Space is limited, so parents/caregivers are encouraged to register early. We invite all families to explore these resources and continue the conversation around mental wellness at home. For more information, visit School Mental Health Ontario. Simple routines, fun activities, and open conversations can contribute to well-being. School Mental Health Ontario offers Easy and Fun Mental Health Activities for Home, with ideas on managing stress, nurturing relationships, and staying positive.

We continue to support health and wellness at school next week, and all year round.
